AERODROME is a work-in-progress excerpt from the upcoming collaborative work between RPG artistic director André M. Zachery and resident sound artist Jeremy Toussaint-Baptiste. The work is a continuing meditation on the theme of migration, and is about the moment of transition from the place being left behind towards the unknown. During this period of "flight", new orders are established, hierarchies are removed and connectivity is essential. This work is a look at the ways Black communities have been formed, destroyed, rebuilt, nurtured and why they must continue to exist in the midst of the 21st Century to symbolize humanity and vitality.
The project (or work) was made possible through the Movement Research Artist-in-Residence Program funded, in part, by the Jerome Foundation, by the Davis/Dauray Family Fund, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
